Chris Hemsworth: the tough routine that transformed the actor into Thor

You don't have to be a hero to have the body of one. Chris Hemsworth is proof that all it takes is a lot of focus and dedication when it comes to working out. Check it out!

Chris Hemsworth is the name behind the famous trilogy of films that brought comic book hero Thor to life – the most recent film in the series, “Thor: Ragnarok”, is now showing in cinemas.

Just like in every action and superhero film, there is one thing that draws attention besides the sinister special effects: the main character's physique.

Playing Thor since 2011, Chris Hemsworth goes through a tough training routine every time he has to play the hero trying to save the world.

Comic books aside, one thing we can't deny: the guy's physique is insane!

But the Australian actor had to work hard to reach the “Thor stage”, and underwent a monstrous body change, which you can check out below. Check it out:

Chris Hemsworth: the tough routine that transformed the actor into Thor

In 2009, when he began preparing for the first film in the sequel, Chris had a very skinny physique.

Through heavy training, he managed to gain more than 9 kilos of very well-defined muscles, and showed off his giant arms and ripped abs in the movies!

Since then, Chris has lost a lot of weight and muscle mass to play roles in other films, but with each new performance in Thor he returns with his physique even more surprising.

Like so many other Hollywood celebrities, her fitness routine was based on 3 essential factors: hard training, diet and a good night's sleep.

Of course, there was no lack of dedication, and the guy didn't rest for a minute – and many people would do the same if they didn't have to work, and could spend the whole day at the gym.

At first, it was 6 months of physical preparation, going to the gym 6/7 days a week, where I trained between 1 and 2 hours a day.

Heavy training

For the first film, Hemsworth needed to gain size: arms, shoulders, back. His training and his entire diet were focused on this.

To gain volume, his workouts focused on the chest and back, performing exercises such as: bench press, bent-over row, parallel bar, and pull-up bar.

In addition, I also practiced deadlifts and squats to strengthen my legs. Close-grip bench press, pull-ups and close-grip pull-ups to work my triceps and biceps.

Feeding a hero

But if you ask him what the hardest part of his training was, he'll undoubtedly say it was the diet.

To gain muscle, his diet was entirely focused on protein . He survived for many days on brown rice, chicken breast and broccoli.

And eating at intervals of 2 hours.

But in addition to diet and exercise, his trainer made sure he got a good night's sleep.

After all, it is while you sleep that your muscles grow! So getting a good night's sleep has become an important part of your routine.

For the hero's second and third films, his training underwent some changes.

According to physical trainer Duffy Gaver, responsible for the actor's muscle building, the training was divided into two parts.

“The first part prioritized hypertrophy, with exercises involving very heavy weights and few repetitions, to ensure maximum muscle development. The second part consisted of circuit training, with the aim of burning fat, but taking care to preserve muscle mass.”

Today, in Thor: Ragnarok, his training routine involves functional training, kickboxing, MMA, and cardio exercises.

Of course, to have a superhero body, Chris relies on the help of qualified professionals – trainers and nutritionists – who closely monitor him on a daily basis.

But he doesn't make anything impossible to achieve, all you need to get a hero's body is discipline, effort and intensity!

And never give up on your goals!
